Paris - Day 1 - 8/30/09

J. was able to take a few days off work, so made the short flight (1.5 hours) to Paris, France.  We managed to find our hotel using the "mo" - Paris' awesome public transportation system.  Then we set out to explore this huge city.  First stop: Crepe stand.  I fell in love this nutella bannana crepe... yuuuummm!  We also discovered grilled cheese hotdogs - YUM!
After a couple "wrong turns" on the subway we made it to the Eiffel Tower and we knew we were officially in Paris.  It was pretty cool!  Of course we had to take several pictures...
We walked around the area enjoying a beautiful evening in Paris.
Then we set off on our Fat Tire Bike Tour.  We covered about 13 km and had a great time scooting all around town on our bikes.  We stopped at the major sights and learned history and took some great pictures!
J. probably created a safety hazard by taking this action shot, but here we are biking through the streets of Paris.
We stopped to have ice cream along the way.  We were on the bridge outside of Notre Dame as the sun was setting, it was quite a sight!

We rode our bikes around the courtyard of the Louvre Museum.  Of course, we all had to stop because it was the perfect photo opportunity.
When it was too dark to safely bike around Paris, the next stop on our tour was a boat ride on the Seine River.  This was our view pulling away - I don't think it gets much better then this!
It was the perfect first night in Paris.  It was amazing to see "the city of lights" come to life at night - everything sparkled.  It was absolutely beautiful!

  1. Wow! Brings back so many memories! My experience with bikes was riding around the grounds of Versailles. You should try that next time, and do it in the fall when all of the leaves are changing, ah! It's beautiful!!!
