Now Venice is definitely not my favorite place in Italy, but because I love my cousin, our final destination was Venice.
And this is how Venice greeted us...
Ok, Venice. I'm sorry. You are beautiful! (I just wish you weren't so crowded!)
We found our hotel with very little trouble - which was surprising considering Venice is like a giant maze!
We had a great little room right on the canal! We spent a lot of time watching the skilled gondoliers maneuver around this corner - it was very impressive!
This the is view from our little balcony. Nice!
That evening, we went on a walking ghost tour of Venice. It was fun to hear the different stories and legends of the city.
The next morning we woke up to rain, but by the time we got going, it hit pause. We took a walking tour of the city. It was a good tour and good to get off the beaten trail.

After a quick lunch, we went to St. Mark's Basilica and brought our trusty guide (Rick). We went up to the second story which gave us a great view of St. Mark's Square. Sadly, it began to sprinkle right as we stepped out on the balcony... oh well!
Then we headed to our tour of the Grand Canal. (I did this tour with J's mom and her friends and it was definitely the highlight of Venice for me!) Well, exactly when we got on the little boat, it started pouring!! It down-poured for exactly 1 hour, which was the exact length of our tour. It was such a disappointment. We weren't able to stand outside at all and even seeing outside the windows was difficult because of the heavy rain.
So, apparently my long-time favorite actor (Mr. Johnny Depp) was in town shooting a movie, the tourist. Brad and Angelina were there too, but who cares about that? All I wanted to see was Johnny! I even made sure I carried around a piece of paper and pen, just in case...
This was the closest I got... Here is his personal boat. It was running, so that means he was either getting ready to go somewhere or he had just gotten back.
After our boat ride, we walked around a bit more. This is a view looking in at St. Mark's Square. To our left is a set of huge, powerful lights. (See they really are filming here!)
Rialto Bridge
That evening, after supper, we walked back to St. Mark's to see it by night. All the lights were on lighting up the entire square. Lindsay and I waited in the pouring rain, calling Johnny's name for a good 30 minutes, but nothing happened! Unbelievable! :o)
The next morning Lindsay flew back to Idaho and I headed back to Florence.
It was a wonderful and memorable trip! Lindsay and I laughed a lot and created a lot of fun memories! Thanks so much for visiting, Lindsay! I can't wait for our next adventure together!
