Copenhagen (Part 2)

The next day, we set out to enjoy another day in Copenhagen!
We grabbed a typical Danish smørrebrød lunch (what we know as smorgasbord).
J had an egg and shrimp sandwich and I had two little open-faced sandwiches on rye bread. One had roast beef and the other had potatoes topped with the yellow sauce, crunchy onions and pickles. Yum!
We visited the National Museum which told the history of Denmark beginning with prehistoric times! It was really interesting and it was remarkable how many artifacts they had gathered through the ages.
After the museum, we decided to see the city one more way - by boat! We took a boat cruise through the canals. Copenhagen is built on canals much like Amsterdam, in fact some of the streets are modeled after the architecture of Amsterdam.
We had been on both sides of this harbor on our bike, so it was fun to see the area from this perspective! Copenhagen has the cleanest harbor (water) of any city of its size. The people are very environmentally conscious here, it is inspiring!
A view of Amalienborg Palace from the water. This church was designed after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
Beautiful Københaven
On the way back to the hotel, we passed this statue of the world's tallest man. Wow!
We spent the evening at the Tivoli Gardens. It was such a fun night! We went on a ton of rides and had such a blast. This swing ride was the first one we went on. You can't really tell from this picture, but it was SO high up! Of course, I didn't realize how high it actually was until we were at the top... it was scary!
Fun times in the gardens!
There were beautiful flower and light displays throughout the garden. It was a beautiful atmosphere.
It was a beautiful evening and perfect weather! There was a concert going on and after listening for a while, J realized that he had seen the singer (Beth Hart) before in Minneapolis. It was a fun surprise and a great end to a great evening!!
